Abstract

Ever since the appearance of Building Information Modeling (BIM), it has been developed to be used in managing newly constructed buildings through monitoring climate change impacts on buildings hence, predicting its energy performance. Later on, the term Heritage Building Information Modeling HBIM offered the historic aspect missing, where the focus shifted towards existing heritage buildings in use. HBIM has also benefitted from the rising technology of big data and smart sensing in the monitoring, sorting, storing and managing information and live data with the use of remote digital platforms which provides a sample of big data adaption where life information can be monitored, documented, hence accessed when needed. The main objective of the paper is to represent a framework for monitoring and visualizing energy performance of heritage buildings by means of smart sensing through the use of digital platforms. The digital platform represented in the paper is called HBIM platform (http://alpha.hbim.org/index.html).
