Abstract
This review discusses the pharmacological potential of the green seaweed Ulva lactuca. This seaweed species is well known for its health benefits due to the presence of biologically active components. It is rich in vitamins, dietary fibers, minerals, polysaccharides, proteins, and different functional polyphenols. Recently, several studies have shown the broad spectrum of its biological activities such as antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer. Furthermore, U. lactuca is considered as a promising candidate to be used in blue biotechnology.
