Abstract

In this paper, the case for a MIMO radar have been considered. MIMO radar is advantageous over the other conventional radars such as higher resolution, improved angle estimation accuracy, the higher number of targets detection, increased array aperture, waveform diversity. Presence of multiple elements on the transmitter side has got its own advantages since multiple waveforms can be generated like a phased array radar which helps in beam-steering. MIMO radar surpasses phased array radar for the reason that all the waveforms on the transmit side in MIMO radar are independent of each other. Orthogonal waveforms are independent of each other and are defined as waveforms with a very low cross-correlation which ensures that the waveforms transmitted do not interfere with each other. Generating waveforms and formation of beams from transmitter side of MIMO radar is a basic problem in digital signal processing and this seeks the interest of scientists, research scholars and engineers. This paper aims to study various techniques for the generation of multiple independent waveforms and the formation of a beam on transmission. Further, the results obtained from the model are presented, studied and analyzed for team formation digitally that gives us further scope to the formation of multiple beams which are independent on transmission.
