Abstract

The growing worldwide epidemic of antibiotic resistance demands a better understanding of the primary molecular pathways, with stress response systems emerging as critical players. Understanding the mechanisms of antibiotic resistance reveals the complex strategies bacteria employ to withstand the effects of antibiotics. Analyzing the intricate relationships between stress proteins and antibiotic resistance links the relationship of how these proteins serve as architects of bacterial resilience. The current review addresses the complex relationship between stress proteins and antibiotic resistance by emphasizing bacteria’s adaptive mechanisms in response to antimicrobial attacks. It summarizes the key stress response proteins involved in bacterial survival and antibiotic resistance, highlighting their critical roles. The review also explores the significance of stress-induced mutations in the evolution of antibiotic resistance and considers potential measures to combat this global health catastrophe, including targeting stress response systems as a therapeutic strategy. These findings establish a framework for future studies, offering promise for a new era in the fight against antibiotic resistance. • Antibiotic (AB) resistance occurs when bacteria endure the effects of AB. • Stress proteins are crucial for bacterial adaptation to cellular stresses. • HSPs aid bacterial survival amidst antibiotics, revealing complex mechanisms. • Bacteria demonstrate adaptive resilience through stress-induced modifications. • Stress response pathways can be new therapeutic potential targets.
