Levels and Trends of Environmental Chemicals in Human Milk
Allan Astrup Jensen
Abstract
Since the Second World War the use of chemicals in our societies has grown enormously. This has resulted in several pollution episodes and in widespread environmental contamination by chemicals. Serious problems have arisen, especially from some very persistent and lipophilic organohalogens, and some heavy metals which biomagnify through food webs and accumulate in human tissues.
