Abstract

A range of systemic microvascular as well as macrovascular disorders occurs in diabetic patients. Diabetes mellitus increases the infection vulnerability as well as delayed wound healing. he local and systemic effects of diabetes mellitus impact the oral cavity and its associated components. Diabetes-related vascular alterations delay nutrient and leukocyte migration to gingival tissues, limiting oxygen diffusion and metabolic waste product clearance and increasing the severity of dental illnesses. everal oral manifestations like fungal and bacterial infections, periodontal diseases, and salivary dysfunction occur in the oral cavity with diabetes mellitus.
