Covid-19: Second wave death rate is doubling fortnightly but is lower and slower than in March Shaun GriffinEngland and Wales registered 9954 deaths in the week ending 9 October 2020, 1.5% above the five year average, provisional data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) have shown. 1Of these deaths, 4.4% (438) mentioned covid-19, up from 3.2% (117) the previous week.2
