Abstract
Abstract Graphene oxide (GO) membranes offer promising solutions for water pollution and scarcity. This review covers GO-based membrane concepts, classifications, and fabrication, with a focus on casted GO-incorporated and surface-modified membranes. It highlights advancements in heavy metal removal, desalination, nanofiltration, and oil/water separation, emphasizing separation performance and mechanisms. GO–polymer combinations enhance water flux, rejection, strength, and antifouling. Challenges and future potential are discussed.
