• Hedgehogs and H. longicornis ticks can maintain the natural circulation of SFTSV in the city ecosystem. • Hedgehogs and H. longicornis ticks are becoming common in Beijing. • Parthenogenetic H. longicornis ticks are discovered in Beijing.
