Abstract

Abstract Quinoline is one of the most important nitrogen containing heterocycles, being widespread in nature and present in a broad variety of pharmacologically active compounds. Specifically, several quinoline based renowned antimalarial agents have served the mankind for several past decades and showed strong potential applications in other field also. 3‐Formyl‐quinoline is a versatile precursor which can be transformed using several easy methods into a wide range of biologically valuable scaffolds. The exploration of 3‐formyl‐quinolines have gained much more attention to medicinal chemists in the field of drug discovery to design and synthesize new fused/tethered quinolines as potent therapeutical agents. This manuscript summarizes the reports (from 2011 to 2023) which showing the synthetic potential of quinoline‐3‐carbaldehydes.
