Abstract

The concept of pixels is crucial because it defines the resolution and quality of digital images. Higher resolution images have more pixels per unit area, which results in finer detail and clearer visuals. Conversely, lower resolution images have fewer pixels which can lead to a loss of detail and clarity. The process of capturing and displaying digital images involves several stages, starting with image sensors in cameras or scanners. These sensors detect light and convert it into electrical signals, which are then translated into pixel data. The resulting pixel data is processed and stored as a digital file in various formats such as JPEG, PNG, or TIFF. Each format has its own method of compressing and storing pixel information, affecting the image's quality and file size. When it comes to displaying digital images, devices like monitors, smartphones, and televisions use pixels to render images on screens. The resolution of these displays is often described in terms of width and height in pixels, such as 1920x1080 for Full HD screens.
