Abstract

Lean Production Systems are widely used in manufacturing enterprises. Through the avoidance of waste on the shop floor, efficient processes are established. Another newer concept is Industry 4.0, which is one of the most promising approaches to handle future production problems like the high demand for customized products. Many types of research address the combination of both concepts to maintain an efficient and flexible production process. This paper addresses the mentioned issue by combining both ideas and systematically identifies the unification. The aim is to develop an approach that assesses the technologies of Industry 4.0 to suitable elements of a Lean Production System.
