Abstract

In order to study the effect of different structural parameters on the connection performances of a tapered head sleeve (THS) and the calculation method of the bond strength, a three-dimensional finite-element model was established. Seventeen THS specimens with different specifications were designed and simulated. Considering the inner cavity radius, sleeve thickness, sleeve length, and anchorage length of reinforcing bar, the influence law of each parameter on THS deformation was analyzed. According to the restraint mechanism and the law of circumferential strain distribution, the calculation methods of bond strength between the grouting material and the inner cavity of the grouting sleeve and between the steel bar and the grouting material are put forward. The results show that the longitudinal strain of the sleeve increases with decreasing the radius of the sleeve and the thickness of the sleeve; the decreases of sleeve lengths and anchorage lengths affect the strain distribution trend of the whole sleeve, but have no obvious effect on the peak value of the longitudinal strain and circumferential strain; the formulas well express the bond strength between each part.
