Abstract

To the Editor: There is a growing evidence base supporting the use of Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) for cutaneous melanoma treatment, with recent guidelines expanding indications for select early-stage invasive tumors.1 While previous data have suggested that MMS utilization for the treatment of melanoma is increasing, more recent trends are yet to be explored within the National Cancer Database.2,3 Our objective was to provide an update on U.S. utilization patterns of MMS for melanoma, while comparing survival outcomes among patients treated with MMS versus wide local excision (WLE).
