Abstract

Cr<sup>3+</sup> ions in MgTa<sub>2</sub>O<sub>6</sub> located in the two six-coordinated crystallographic sites of Mg<sup>2+</sup> and Ta<sup>5+</sup> enable broad-band near-infrared emission.
