Abstract

Acute mesenteric ischemia is defined as inadequate blood supply to the gastrointestinal tract resulting in ischemic and inflammatory injury. The prognosis is poor without treatment. Contrast-enhanced CT has become the cornerstone of diagnosis to identify features of vascular disorders and of intestinal ischemic injury and to visualize bowel necrosis.
