Abstract
A way is proposed for measuring the rate of degradation of a high-power continuous-wave laser diode with a wide contact by monitoring the state of its heterostructure every 50 h of operation. The number and structure of the channels of laser generation is used as a controlled parameter. The mechanism of the laser diode structure’s degradation is considered in the time dependence of the number of lasing channels.
