Abstract
A review of research on power units in space indicates that the main sources are solar energy, batteries, and nuclear power. No literature data on the utilization of the heat liberated by spacecraft equipment may be found. In the present work, on the basis of the Carnot and Rankine cycles, the influence of a unit converting waste heat to electric power on the mass of the radiant cooling system is assessed.
