Abstract

The authors consider a one-dimensional charge-conserving spin-triplet superconductor with the superconductivity induced by intrinsic attractive pairing interactions between the electrons. Using Bethe ansatz, they show that the system with open boundary conditions exhibits a topological phase characterized by the existence of zero energy bound states localized at the edges. These bound states give rise to degeneracy in the ground-state structure, which results in the existence of fractionalized \textonequarter{} spins at the edges.
