Abstract

The present study brings a literature review on the use of ultrasound in Endodontics, with the aim of analyzing more specifically its use during the process of passive irrigation activation. Ultrasonic Passive Irrigation assists in removing debris and smear layer during endodontic treatment, in addition to facilitating the removal of intracanal calcium hydroxide-based drugs, increasing the irrigator's ability to penetrate the Root Canal System, making the procedure safer for the patient and for the Dental Surgeon. A bibliographic review was carried out with studies published in the database of the virtual platforms Science Direct, PubMed, SciELO and MEDLINE. Based on the study, it can be concluded that the use of ultrasound in endodontics more precisely in irrigation is an effective technique that brings good results for endodontic treatment.
