Abstract

-quinodimethanes, delivering fused or spiro polycyclic rings bearing vicinal all-carbon quaternary centers in excellent enantiomeric excess through one-step operation. This newly developed enantioselective PEDA reaction will inspire other advances in asymmetric excited-state reactions, and could be used in the total synthesis of structurally related complex natural products or drug-like molecules for drug discovery.
