Abstract
In contrast to bulk metals, the nanoparticles of copper, silver and gold catalyze the low-temperature reaction of ortho-para conversion of protium (the physical magnetic mechanism) which indicates the presence of magnetic properties in nanoparticles of metals of the IB group. Catalytic activity depends on the nature of the metal: Au > Ag > Cu. Copper nanoparticles are unstable, their catalytic activity decreases over time. Gold and silver nanoparticles are stable. The deutero‑hydrogen exchange reaction proceeds on silver and gold nanoparticles by the chemical mechanism. In copper nanoparticles, no H2-D2 exchange activity was observed.
