A Brief Overview on Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles

Abstract
The growing pollution had reach to an alarming state where the healthy state of environment is at stake since few decades. One of the major reason for this condition is petrol or diesel run vehicles. Not only pollution with increasing number of vehicles the amount of petrol and diesel is also depleting rapidly. Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV) are a solution to this problem as they run basically on hydrogen which can be reused again and also it is environment friendly as it releases less smoke. This paper presents a brief overview of FCEV, their working principle, various topologies of FCEV, their energy management schemes and technical issues faced by them. These topologies depends on generation sources and storage elements. This article also discuss various electric motors used in FCEV. An analytical discussion regarding the converters and inverters used in FCEVs at different states had also been presented along with a tabular comparison.
