SOLIDARITY TOURISM - How can tourism help the Ukraine and other war-torn countries?

Abstract
While the current Russian conflict in Ukraine is not the only international arena of conflict, its global visibility has triggered a movement for peace among ordinary people globally, including –most courageously– Russia and Belarus. People going to the streets and demanding peace played no minor part in pushing their elected leaders to commit to assisting the people of Ukraine in defending their country. How can this determination of ordinary people to assist the Ukraine, their solidarity with Ukrainians, be channelled to help the Ukraine and other war-torn countries in time of immediate need and, later, during their economic recovery? We encourage tourism scholars to design tangible solutions; action plans for government, industry and tourists to help the Ukraine and other war-torn destinations.
