An antimony(<scp>iii</scp>) borate with large birefringence exhibiting unwonted [B<sub>5</sub>O<sub>11</sub>] fundamental building blocks and dimeric [Sb<sub>2</sub>O<sub>6</sub>] clusters

Abstract
By combining π-conjugated [B<sub>3</sub>O<sub>6</sub>] groups and Sb<sup>3+</sup> cations with SCALP, we successfully obtained the second antimony(<sc>iii</sc>) borate SbB<sub>5</sub>O<sub>9</sub> with a large birefringence (0.151 @ 1064 nm), which exhibits unwonted [B<sub>5</sub>O<sub>11</sub>] FBBs and dimeric [Sb<sub>2</sub>O<sub>6</sub>] clusters.
