Autismo: uma revisão integrativa

Abstract
Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) refers to a series of conditions related to damage to neurological development, characterized by repetitive behavior, impaired speech, social skills and non-verbal communication.Considering subject matter and the gaps in relation to the identification of ASD individuals, the work objectives, are: point out scientific advances in relation to the diagnosis and treatment of patients and clarify the factors inherent to their family life.This is a integrative review research conducted in the databases of Scielo, PUBMED, Revista Espaço Aberto USP, among other sources, using the following key words: autism etiology, autism diagnosis, autism epidemiology and autistic child interaction.ASD has a complex diagnosis and is difficult to conclude, and can be performed through clinical behavioral observation and investigation, related to social interaction, inappropriate use and deficits in language communication and repetitive standardized behavior and interests.There are multiple methods for the treatment of ASD, including PECS, TEACCH and ABA.Conclusion: Despite the existence of numerous cases, the millions of autistic Brazilians still have difficulties in establishing adequate treatment.
