Abstract

Book 10 develops the collapse‑mechanics layer of Developmental Geometry, unifying the geometric framework of Books 5–8 with the discrete substrate of Book 9. Three structural principles govern collapse‑driven evolution: Curvature Transference: structural complexity is converted into curvature under collapse. Curvature Neutralization: curvature in excess of capacity is forcibly removed. Developmental Energy: a curvature‑weighted energy functional decreases monotonically under collapse and provides the variational structure for the developmental flow. Together these principles form the collapse calculus, a unified framework in which the collapse operator, the corridor geometry, the tightening lemma, and the shadow chain all arise as consequences of a single variational descent. The volume introduces the unified geometric collapse operator, establishes the Energy Release Theorem from the spectral machinery of Books 7–8, and proves the transference and neutralization principles using the gateway‑threshold structure of Book 6 and the SCC architecture of Book 9. Proof‑status update: All structural proof obligations internal to Book 10 are resolved. The developmental cost function is formalized; the unified collapse operator is constructed; curvature transference and curvature neutralization are established as theorems; and the compactness argument required for convergence is completed. Only a single numerical verification—the shadow‑chain extremality ratio—is deferred to an appendix and does not affect the mechanical layer. Position in the series: Book 10 completes the geometric layer of Developmental Geometry. It provides the mechanical and variational foundation required for the synthesis volume (Book 12) and prepares the ground for the formal repair layer (Book 11), where the analytic machinery of the developmental operator will be fully formalized. Version 1.1 correction: The Curvature Transference Principle (Theorem 2.3) has been corrected. The original statement that structural states gain curvature under collapse was incorrect. The corrected statement is that structural complexity is converted into cost reduction via gateway descent. The Energy Release Theorem is unaffected. Full corrected proof in Book 11, Section 7.1.
