Abstract

With the growing demand for clean and safe drinking water, there is a need for innovative approaches to enhance water access and distribution, particularly in public places like railway stations, where large numbers of people gather and transit daily. This paper presents a novel solution by leveraging Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) to develop an FPGA-based vending machine for water, which efficiently handles the process of dispensing water and returning change in real-time. The vending machine takes three inputs: the desired number of litres, the type of water (cold, hot, or normal), and the amount of money entered by the user. The outputs of the system include the dispensed water and the correct change to be returned to the user in real time.
