Abstract

The start of a new year and accompanying resolutions often revolve around a renewed motivation to adopt healthier lifestyles. However, these changes to lifestyle can only contribute to healthy ageing if supportive environments, policies, systems, and services are in place. The UN declared 2021–30 as the Decade of Healthy Ageing with an aim to improve the health and wellbeing of older people. The release of the first progress report sheds light on the extent to which Member States, with 136 of 194 submitting data although the precise number varied across indicators, have successfully adopted the various action points.
