Abstract
In the automotive industry, electric vehicles (EVs) have become high-cost because rare earth materials used in the subsystems are motor, battery, and power converter modules (PCM). The PCM is essential in (EVs) to improve the performance characteristics of batteries and motors. Therefore, high switching frequency PCM reduces the battery charger converter's volume of the passive components and weight. The EV onboard charging system's dual active bridge (DAB) converter's fast switching and compact design help to reduce the cost. This paper describes a high-frequency single-phase DAB DC-DC converter operated at 50 kHz. Also, DAB is used for vehicle-to-grid and grid-to-vehicle applications. The detailed analysis of the DAB mode of operation and electrical analysis simulation results were developed and validated in MATLAB/Simulink® platform. The DAB is designed to achieve a power transfer of 6.6 kW with a high frequency of 97.05 % at nominal power.
