Abstract

In this paper, thin films of poly (methyl methacrylate) [PMMA] were created using the spin coating process. Using Spin Coating technology, PMMA was produced and deposited on glass slides at three distinct rates ranging from 1000 to 3000 revolutions per minute. The speed was used to create a thin film of a specific thickness because the faster the speed, the thinner the film, and vice versa. Changes in optical parameters such as absorbance and transmittance spectra as a function of wavelength, as well as the absorption coefficient and other optical constants, have been measured. The absorbance, absorption coefficient, and refractive index values of pure polymer increase as the PMMA concentration ratios increase. The results showed a decrease in transmittance values with all PMMA concentration ratios. The values of reflectance increase as the concentration ratio increases; additionally, the results show a decrease in the energy gap for allowed direct transition as the concentration ratio increases of PMMA.
