Abstract

In this manuscript, the surface of graphene oxide (GO) was modified by hyperbranched polyester (HBP) to obtain the modified GO (m-GO), and epoxy-asphalt/GO (EP-AS/GO) composites were prepared. The effects of GO or m-GO on the curing kinetics of EP-AS was comparatively studied by using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The results showed that the presence of GO makes the curing temperature of EP-AS move to low value, indicating that the introduction of GO accelerates the curing of EP-AS. The addition of m-GO can promote the solidification of EP-AS more strongly. The curing activation energies of EP-AS, EP-AS/GO and EP-AS/m-GO were calculated according to Kissinger method and Ozawa method, respectively. The results showed that the curing activation energy of the composites decreases significantly during the whole curing process from low conversion rate to high conversion rate after the addition of GO or m-GO, which indicates that GO or m-GO has a greater effect on the curing reaction of EP-AS. The possible mechanism was discussed.
