Abstract
Existing open-source components can be combined with new ones to create new systems, or new components can be developed from scratch. Next-generation Web technologies are supported by FIWARE, a collection of software modules for developing and disseminating new applications. The Internet of Things (IoT) devices and Orion-Context Broker technologies specified in FIWARE’s IoT Applications Enablement Framework are evaluated in this article. The northbound interface’s domain query throughput, computing resource use, and latency were all taken into account in this performance study. Our performance studies also took into account the various options for scaling the elements of the system and its overall functionality in the cloud, in order to accommodate the rapidly expanding number of devices in the IoT.
