Abstract
This paper proposes a six-antenna design for handset devices. The antenna comes with multiple operation bands that cover the two conventional WLAN bands, which extends from 2400 to 2484 MHz and 5150 to 5925 MHz, as well as the newly added WiFi-6E band that covers the 5925 to 7125 MHz band. The proposed antenna geometry comprises three elements. A printed planar monopole serves as the driven element. A parasitic strip is placed alongside with the monopole. A dual-branch shorted element, which contains an inverted L branch and an inverted C branch, is placed right next to the driving monopole. These structures help excite multiple resonances to form a broad operation band and to improve the matching performance. Simulation results show that the proposed MIMO antenna array has good impedance matching and decoupling performances in the desired WiFi bands.
