Abstract

People with multiple sclerosis (MS) are very interested in diet because something they can control that could improve their disease course. Questions about the “right diet” to follow come early from people newly diagnosed with MS and rank high in frequency among MS internet searches.1 Despite this, physicians and others caring for people with MS can feel uncomfortable endorsing one dietary approach over another when faced with the paucity of evidence demonstrating their unique benefits for treating MS. The ensuing stalemate can leave people with MS feeling frustrated, and their healthcare providers feeling cornered.
