Abstract

With the increased and rapid advancement in the global development of the smart industry, cybersecurity challenges have become an important growth factor to the success of the industrial transformation. In particular, when the integration between operational technology and information technology enables connected devices. Anomaly threat detection has been applied to counter some of the security issues related to conventional IT networks more than those in OT. To the ground, these gaps, significant literature review and audit on the intrusion detection and prevention mechanisms in the field of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) have been conducted. The survey highlights different protocols, algorithms, and mechanisms to secure the IIoT system. In addition, it compares different mechanisms used to detect, prevent and protect IIoT systems against different vulnerabilities, threats, and attacks. Furthermore, we expand on the issues looked at utilizing AI, 5G, and blockchain technologies for cybersecurity and offer suggestions for future examinations.
