Abstract

This paper designs a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna with a sub-6G frequency band for 5G communication. The MIMO antenna consists of four ports with four microstrip elements. Each single element adopts the coupling feed method, and an annular slot is opened in the bottom substrate to achieve broadband characteristics at low frequencies. Meanwhile, the incomplete grounding substrate is used in the design of the MIMO antenna to improve the isolation degree between ports. The antenna is 62 mm×70mm in size and the simulations by the well-known HFSS software show that it can achieve a bandwidth of 3.43 – 3.85 GHz and an isolation degree of about −20 dB. The MIMO antenna has a small size and a high isolation degree, which are very desirable for 5G wireless communication systems.
