A polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon diradical with pH-responsive magnetic properties

Abstract
A novel polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon molecule exhibiting manifold zwitterionic, diradical and quinoidal characteristics is designed and synthesized. <italic>Via</italic> reversible protonation, its pH-responsive magnetic properties are demonstrated.
