Abstract
The treatment of multidrug-resistant bacterial infection is an urgent clinical problem. The combination of bacteriophages and antibiotics could produce synergistic bactericidal effects, which could reduce the emergence of antibiotic resistance and antibiotic consumption in antibiotic-sensitive bacteria, restore efficacy to antibiotics in antibiotic-resistant bacteria, and prevent the occurrence of phage-resistant bacteria. Phage-antibiotic combination (PAC) might be a potential new alternative for clinical treatment of multidrug-resistant bacterial infections.
