Abstract

Chromoblastomycosis (CBM) is a chronic subcutaneous infection caused by genera of melanized fungi: Fonsecaea , Cladophialophora , Phialophora , Exophiala , and Rhinocladiella . Melanin is a virulence factor known to influence antifungal susceptibility. A specific inhibitor of melanin biosynthesis is tricyclazole.
