Abstract

Most organizations start the implementation process of new technologies without proper planning, causing damages that change the perception of professionals against the proposal of Industry 4.0. To reduce this, consultants, academics, and experts in the field recommend that an analysis of the company's current state (AS-IS) be performed. Thus, this paper aims to identify models that meet the needs of companies and allow top management to use this information in the strategic planning of I4.0 implementation. A case study with 9 companies from different industrial sectors of southern Brazil was conducted and pointed out that both evaluation models provide data that outline the real situation of organizations from different and complementary perspectives. Nevertheless, according to the evaluators' perception, the Readiness I4.0 model was the most attractive for presenting the maturity index and making necessary notes to aim for a better future state.
