Abstract
This paper proposes the control of a PV system charging a battery in real weather conditions. The structure of the studied system contains two stages of converters: a DC-DC Boost and a DC-DC Buck converter. To achieve the maximum power point (MPP) of the PV panel a Fuzzy logic (FL) is used. The output voltage and current which powers the battery are regulated by two controllers: a PID controller and a proposed Optimal PI, this latter controller get better response then track correctly the desired reference voltage. The studied system and control strategies are implemented in MATLAB-Simulink. Simulation results prove the high performance of the considered system.
