Abstract

The functionalization of C−H bonds holds significant importance in organic synthesis. However, the inherent inertness of C-H bonds poses great challenges for direct functionalization under mild conditions. Decatungstates, as versatile, inexpensive, and easily-accessible hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) photocatalysts, can activate inert C−H bonds under UV-irradiation to generate carbon-centered radicals for the construction of C−C, C−N, C−S, and C−F bonds. This review primarily summarizes recent advances in decatungstate-based photocatalysts for organic transformation. The overall outline of this review article has been organized according to the types of decatungstate-photocatalyzed organic transformations. In addition to summarizing existing literature works, a critical discussion on the current challenges and the future development of this promising research field has also been elaborately prospected.
