Abstract

Bipolar membrane electrodialysis is a high efficiency membrane reaction method which is developed by taking advantage of the unique hydrolysis separation property of bipolar membranes. In this work, a bipolar membrane electrodialysis method was used to treat simulated nitrogen and phosphorus wastewater. The separation and enrichment efficiency and migration rate of NH4+ and PO43- were determined. The energy consumption and current efficiency of NH4+ and PO43- separation and enrichment were analyzed. The results showed that the removal rates of PO43- and NH4+ increased with the extension of time. Meanwhile, with the increase of current density, the removal rate of NH4+ and PO43- in wastewater chamber is accelerated. With the increase of current density, the energy consumption increases gradually.
