Abstract
A finite element approach for modal analysis of square FGM plates is developed by the ABACUS software coupled with FORTRAN. The Material properties are assumed to be changed continuously from one surface to another through its thickness direction according to the simple power-law distribution. The analysis was performed on relatively thin square FGM plates with various combinations of simply supported and clamped boundary conditions. For modal analysis, a FEM was carried out for different values of n in simply supported (SSSS) and clamped (CCCC) modes, similar to those employed by other researchers and the accuracy of results were evaluated.
