Tandem electrocatalytic aziridination – ring expansion of simple aromatic olefins using ammonia and carbon dioxide

Abstract

The telescoped electrochemical coupling of NH 3 and CO 2 with simple aromatic olefins is described, forming valuable N-heterocycles in an atom-efficient manner with overall yields of up to 91%. The same iodide catalyst is required for both steps.
