Abstract

The paper is focused on automated manufacturing in the automotive industry with a specialization on technologies related to Industry 4.0. We discuss specific technologies connected to Industry 4.0 such as advanced robotic devices, 3D printing, Internet of Things, or automated production that are introduced into manufacturing companies. Our research sample consisted of manufacturing companies from automotive sector that operate in Slovakia and Czech Republic. Both countries belong to the key players in the global market of the production of automobiles. To collect the data, we prepared electronic questionnaire and formulated questions according to the theoretical review of previous studies and research. Two assumptions were set, and verification was done by evaluation of average level of use of technologies. We analyzed the level of implementation of automation technologies and other technologies of Industry 4.0 as well. The results showed a high frequency of use of sensors, programmable devices such as PLC / HMI and industrial robots. Another analysis of obtained data stated that large manufacturing companies implement automation elements at more advanced level than medium and small sized businesses.
