Abstract
This work demonstrates how the solar cell efficiency of any real-world absorber material depends on the three material parameters absorption coefficient $\ensuremath{\alpha}$ ,mobility $\ensuremath{\mu}$, and lifetime $\ensuremath{\tau}$. Simple figures of merit for solar cell performance are found which support both experimental and computational efforts on identifying promising absorbers for novel solar cells.
