Abstract
Dermatophyte infections of the skin, hairs and nails are very common and variable in aspect. This research work reports the development of android application to identify the skin infections namely Vitiligo and Ringworm. The occurrence of Vitiligo skin disorder is primarily caused by the disappearance of pigment cells from the epidermis that gives rise to well define white patches which are often symmetrically distributed. The prevalence of Vitiligo is high in India, varying in the range of 0.46% to 8.8%. Ringworm (tinea) is a common fungal skin infection which most commonly affects the skin on the body, the scalp, the feet, or the groin. Literature reports up to 20% of the population may be infected by ringworm at and about 1% of people are affected by Vitiligo. In some populations it affects as many as 2 to 3%. Proposed system will be able to detect Ringworm and Vitiligo patches with means of symptoms inputs provided by the patients and the datasets (images) of the infected area on the patient's body. The system will provide a report with result of positive or negative status of disease based on image and symptoms given by user and suggest quick home remedies for it and advice to visit a dermatologist in their city.
