Abstract

Recent power sectors associated with IC engines have a crucial challenge in reducing the size of the cooling system. Currently, investigators are trying to reduce the size of the IC engine cooling system by utilising particular types of coolant in place of traditional ones. Nanofluids are recent trends to improve the thermal performance of any heat transfer device/system for miniaturisation. Using various nanofluids as a coolant in an IC engine cooling system might be a favourable opinion in the current industrial scenario. The current review begins with an overview of different heat transfer devices, nanofluids applications, and thermal performance enhancement using nanoparticles dispersed base fluid. Secondly, the study contains a literature analysis of the last decade regarding the cooling system, working medium, preparation methods, and characterisation techniques. Finally, the superior nano-coolant was suggested for the IC engine cooling system based on experimental, CFD, numerical and analytical results of the literature.
